Result of Seminar on the JCM Implementation in Chile

The Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) and the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC) in collaboration with Government of Chile and Nippon Koei jointly organized “Seminar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Implementation in Chile – Accelerating Promotion of Environmental Infrastructure through JCM -” on 29 August 2019 in Santiago, Chile.

In this seminar, government officials and representatives of related organizations from both countries shared the progress of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), and introduced “JCM Global Match” platform, and Chilean side made a presentation of Chilean economic situation, industrial structure, and CO2 reduction efforts. In addition, companies from both countries discussed the JCM model projects and the potential sectors that JCM model project is expected to develop in Chile.

Several companies that are considering buying or selling low carbon or zero carbon emission technologies within JCM scheme have participated and had individual meetings in subsequent business matching session. Further, GEC had individual consultation with companies related to JCM and Financing Programme.  These discussions are expected to lead to specific projects in the future.
