Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity

The project will establish an integrated regional solid waste management system in Greater Male consisting of collection, transfer, treatment using advanced waste-to-energy (WtE) technology, disposal, recycling, and dumpsite closure and remediation. The WtE facility can process 500 tons/day of municipal solid waste, with up to 12 MW power generation.

The plant will be designed to maximize the energy efficiency and availability of the system to reduce GHG emissions, such as introducing energy efficient electrical drives, cladded boiler membrane walls, and a system to limit superheater temperatures to avoid frequent stoppage of the plant, while meeting high environmental standards.
