Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity
This project introduces 1,365 amorphous high efficiency transformers in power grid, replacing the silicon steel core transformers commonly used throughout the country, and reduces power losses related to power distribution (no-load losses in distribution transformers) as well as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from power generation.
Amorphous alloys used in the iron core of amorphous transformers reduce no-load losses (power losses caused by the magnetization or energization of the transformer’s iron core) and improve the energy efficiency of the transformers compared to steel-type iron cores used in conventional silicon steel core transformers.
