Press Release: Joint Crediting Mechanism Implementation Agency (JCMA) co-organized the JCM Global Partnership Meeting in conjunction with the SB64 was held in Bonn, Germany

  1. On June 10, 2026, the JCM Global Partnership Meeting was held in Bonn, FederalRepublic of Germany, on the occasion of the sixty-fourth session of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
  2. Representatives from 14 of the 32 JCM partner countries participated in the meeting. Participants shared the latest status of the JCM in their respective countries and discussed key challenges and opportunities, including policy development and measures to promote project implementation.
  3. JCMA will continue its efforts to further expand the dissemination and rapid utilization of the JCM, and Japan will contribute to global decarbonization through support for greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals, as well as the promotion of sustainable development.

  1. Key Discussion Topics
    Representatives from JCM partner countries reported on the latest JCM-related developments in their respective countries, including the following:

    • The first ITMO transfer in Palau
    • Revision of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) in Chile and the status of domestic institutional development
    • The first ITMO transfer in the Maldives and the status of domestic institutional development

    The sharing of these initiatives and experiences provided useful reference cases for other countries.

  2. Updates from Japan
    JCMA and A6IP delivered presentations on the following topics, followed by a Q&A
    session with participants:

    • Approaches to emission factors related to renewable energy
    • Overview of JCM support activities provided by A6IP
    • Overview of the ITMO registry that can be provided by JCM
  3. Participants’ reflections, comments and/or suggestion
    Under the facilitation of JCMA, participants shared their reflections. In particular, the following points were emphasized:

    • High appreciation for opportunities to learn from the experiences and technologies
      of other countries through the JCM
    • Recognition of the JCM as a “reliable partner/accelerator”
    • Expressions of gratitude for the continued support from the Government of Japan
      and related organizations
