Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity
This project introduces fast-chargeable lithium-ion batteries to base transceiver stations (BTS) owned by Grameenphone.
Blackouts occur frequently in Bangladesh due to the gap between demand and supply, especially in poor-grid areas. Thus diesel generators and lead-acid batteries are used together for providing stable power to the BTS.
This project achieves GHG emission reduction by replacing existing lead-acid batteries with lithium-ion batteries, which significantly reduces runtime of the diesel generators at each BTS in unstable-grid areas.
