REDD+ with Livelihood Development and Biomass-based Power Generation
- Representative Participant
- Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd.
Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity
Forest preservation and vegetation activities combined with livelihood improvement measures will be carried out, and the reduction in pressure on existing natural forest and the increase in carbon accumulation by plantations and areas of vegetation will be quantified.
In addition, agricultural/timber wastes will be utilised based on the livelihood development programs to engage in biomass power generation, and to reduce GHG emissions. The project will contribute to sustainable development by helping to enhance forest functions for public benefit such as cultivation of water resources and biodiversity preservation.
Expected GHG Emission Reductions
3.05 – 6.97MtCO2/yr (REDD+)
← Project boundary: Dien Bien Province (Approx. 955,000 ha)
← Activities: Forest management programs and Livelihood development programs based on the existing Provincial Forest Protection and Development Plan (FPDP)
← Note that the reference level is not included in the estimation.
