Result of Webinar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Implementation in Mexico 2020 – Utilizing the JCM during the COVID-19 Period –
Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico and Pacific Consultants will jointly organized “Webinar on the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM*1) Implementation in Mexico – Utilizing the JCM during the COVID-19 Period -” on Tuesday, December 19, 2021.
Government of Japan is promoting dissemination of advanced low-carbon or decarbonizing technologies through the Financing Programme for JCM Model Projects*2 and GEC has served as an implementation agency of these projects since 2014. The webinar will be participated by government officials and business leaders from both countries, and it aims at sharing overview and progress of JCM and facilitating project development and scaling up those future projects.
Under the influence of coronavirus, it is required to take measures against coronavirus and climate change as well. In this webinar, we will introduce the government’s economic countermeasures against coronavirus and climate change policies in Mexico, introduce good examples including coronavirus countermeasures in the JCM Model Projects in Mexico, and explore how to utilize the JCM Model Projects effectively in the COVID-19 period.
After the webinar, individual meetings were arranged online between the companies that are considering implementing low-carbon or decarbonizing technologies as JCM Model Projects and the companies that can provide relevant technologies. Also, individual consultation by GEC was set up online for companies who would like to ask questions related to Financing Programme for JCM.
