Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity
In this project, a biomass power generation project (12MW), using empty fruit bunches (EFB) and other byproducts generated from palm oil mills as fuel, is implemented in Aceh Province, to substitute grid electric power in Indonesia with renewable energy, and contribute to reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
EFB, etc. are brought in by trucks from palm oil mills near the biomass power generation facility. The boiler incorporates a movable step grate stoker with an automatic ash removal function and an optimization system to control furnace temperature, which can minimize the occurrence of clinker which is specific to EFB.
Expected GHG Emission Reductions
33,573 tCO2-eq./year
= (Reference CO2 emissions)
- (Project CO2 emissions)
・ Reference CO₂ emissions
= (Quantity of the electricity generated by the project) [MWh/year] × Emission factor [tCO2/MWh]
・ Project CO2 emissions
= CO2 Emissions from fossil fuel used by biomass power generation [tCO2/year] + CO2 Emissions from biomass transport [tCO2/year]
