Description of the project | The objective of this project is to generate electric power produced from biogas by applying methane fermentation process to treat pig manure released from the pig farm in Laiyang City, Shandong Province, China. Projected income in this project will consist of 3 main resources: sale of CER (Certified Emission Right) derived from GHG reduction, including methane gas; sale of electric power to the area grid; sale of liquid fertilizer to the farmers in the neighborhood. |

Baseline methodology/additionality | In implementing the project, ACM0010 (Consolidated baseline methodology for GHG emission reductions from manure management systems), approved on 29th September, 2006, shall be applied as Baseline methodology. Following substitute scenarios may be considered: Scenario1:anaerobic lagoon treatment Scenario2:This project non-applicable for registration as CDM Scenario3:Anaerobic treatment - Flare Scenario4:Intensive Treatment by mixing manure and urine with water for discharging in the river Scenario5:Urine is treated in anaerobic lagoon, while dried manure is utilized as organic fertilizer Intensive analysis of each scenario has led to construe that Scenario 5 proves to be most economically viable one as Baseline scenario. Therefore, it can be concluded that the project should have additionality due to the fact that the adopted Baseline for identifying Baseline scenario differentiates itself from the project, inapplicable as CDM project. |

Environmental impact | This project must make an extensive contribution to the improvement of the periphery environment in terms of mitigating GHG emissions, odor and ground water contamination. The benefiting effects will be achieved by employing closed process technology to treat pig manure currently causing serious environment impact upon the neighborhood. As there is no human residence nor social buildings around the projectpig farm, it may be said that environmental impact resulting from the execution of the project will be very limited. |
Issues and tasks for project implementation | Next step forward will be to go through a validation review, while more precise calculation of possible amount of CER shall be done; such due steps will lead to final decision-making about practical project implementation. |
