GEC's Activity at UNFCCC SB36: Side Event "Toward the Establishment the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOCM) – Utilisation to Support the NAMA Implementation"

GEC organised the UNFCCC SB36 official side event, with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC). The side event was held at Bonn, Germany, on Thursday 17th of May, and more than 70 participants composed of national governmental officers and experts actively discussed on the theme.
On the occasion of the side event, GEC published the compilation booklet of New Mechanisms FS reports ("Findings of New Mechanisms Feasibility Studies 2011 - based on MOEJ/GEC BOCM FS Programme") implemented in 2011, in order to share the visions of the proposed BOCM projects/activities.

Outline:		The side event presented the overview of Japanese programme on the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOCM), and its possible utilisation for NAMAs in developing countries. The representatives of Mongolia and Lao PDF were invited to make presentations, and participants discussed bilateral and international cooperative activities, through the initiatives of the MOEJ, GEC, the IGES and OECC (including Feasibility Study Programme on the BOCM, Capacity Building Programme on MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification), and NAMA Establishment Support Programme) Developing countries representatives will also show their perspectives on BOCM and their NAMAs/climate national strategies.
