Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity

This project introduces a rice husk-fueled biomass power generation (0.5 MW) and a solar power system (1.0 MW) into the rice mill’s site in Kandal province and sells electricity to the rice mill to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and contribute to relieving the power shortage in Cambodia. This project embodies the measures of “Action plan for the climate change strategy in Phnom Penh
Capital city” formulated in the intercity cooperation project between Kitakyushu City and Phnom Penh Capital City.

Expected GHG Emission Reductions

1,881 tCO2-eq./year

Biomass power generation:1,316 tCO2/year
= (Reference CO₂ emissions)
– (Project CO₂ emissions)

Solar power system:565 tCO2/year
= (Quantity of the electricity generated by the
project [MWh/year] - 0 [MWh/year])
× Emission factor [tCO2/MWh]
