Biomass Utilization in Cement Kiln

Implementing Entity: Taiheiyo Engineering Corporation

Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity

By utilizing agricultural biomass in Lao PDR as an alternative fuel to cement manufacturing process, a large CO2 emission reductions can be achieved, as well as saving coal resources.
The proposed process using Japanese technology is shown below.

Expected GHG Emission Reductions

21,281 t-CO2/year

  • Expected emission reduction from proposed project
    Condition ; utilizing 2t/h x 24hr/day x 300days/y = 14,400t rice husk/y
    Expected CO2 emission reduction 21,281t/CO2/y
  • National potential
Rice husk production from whole Lao PDR 614,000t/y
Expected CO2 emission reduction potential 921,000t-CO2/y
