Geothermal Binary Power Generation

FS Entity: Nippon Koei

Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity

A geothermal binary power plant will be developed, with the expectation of power generation of around 200kW, to supply electricity to Tachileik City.
Since all electric power consumed in this area is imported from Thailand, this project is a pioneer of renewable power generation of this area. The success of this project will contribute a great deal to GHG reduction.

Draft JCM Methodology

Reference Emission (RE) (tCO2/yr) = EF * EGPJ
EF: Grid emission factor (tCO2/MWh);
EGPJ: Electricity generation (MWh/yr)

Project Emission (PE) (tCO2/yr) = (Ws,CO2 + Ws,CH4 * GWPCH4) * Ms
Ws,CO2: Mass fraction of CO2 in steam (tCO2/t steam);
Ws,CH4: Mass fraction of CH4 in steam (tCH4/t steam);
GWPCH4: CH4 global warming potential (tCO2e/tCH4);
Ms: Steam quantity (t steam/yr)

Emission Reduction (ER) (tCO2/yr) = RE - PE

Expected GHG Emission Reductions

1,147tCO2/yr

←Capacity: 200 kW;
←Generated power: 1401.6 MWh;
