Outline of GHG Mitigation Activity

The target project of the study is to install waste heat recovery and application systems at Textile and Garment factories in Bangladesh for recovering waste heats from wastewater generated during textile dyeing process and applying the heats to warm up fresh water that is required by the dyeing process.
Cooperating with the local partner, Tex Master Buying Solution, a local consultant and buying house, the study targeted three Textile and Garment factories named Hams Garments Ltd.,Giant Textile Ltd. and Delta Composite Ind.Ltd. that are located in the Gazipur district of Dhaka Division.
Based on the factory wise customized system designs that’s core technology is a spiral heat exchanger without distance pieces from Japanese manufacturer, Kurose Chemical Equipment Co.Ltd., the study estimated the cots, energy saving and CO2 emission reduction impacts of the systems. Moreover, a framework for the project implementation is discussed and clarified.

Expected GHG Emission Reductions

2,379 tCO2/year
Reference CO2 emissions
= Amount of heat recovered (TJ/year) x Emission factor of the fuel (natural gas) used for heat generation (t CO2/TJ)
 = 50.58 x 54.3 = 2,747 t CO2/year
Project CO2 emissions
= System electricity consumption (MWh/year) x Emission factor of electricity (t CO2/ MWh)
 = 438 x 0.8 = 350 t CO2/year
